Long had Nyxx been underground. Too long he decided as his now red eyes adjusted to the heat-sources, clearly marking the noble houses in this city of chaos. Each day had proved enlightening in this city so akin to his own twisted heart. The beings here had survived, no, thrived on constant war and wavering laws that proved to do little more than assure that failed attacks were dealt with in a drawn out and horribly gruesome manner.
The city of chaos
This city, and a few others like it, were tucked underneath the surface and far away from any source of light whatsoever. The humanoids that lived here had adjusted to this land more akin to their hearts and made their wiles as practiced mercenaries. always plotting, always trying to enhance their own rank among the others by constructing the downfall of those who stood in the way. This is the way of the drow.
Nyxx had been captured by the drow in a raid on the surface, and long had he been held captive by the drow. To them he was nothing. A non-drow, or, Agluth in their language. Although now he had been freed and served one of the mid-ranking houses in the city. After the drow had instructed him in the drow language as well as the silent hand code the devious drow often used, they began to lessen their firm grasp on him, even allowing to take part in minor assignments. Nyxx learned much from the drow, thriving in this city of chaos. Until the house Triel'du, 17th house in the city, was attacked by the 16th house, Furain.

Nyxx, being a prisoner of house triel'du, went about his daily routine. Training with the houses weapon master, as well as providing the house a sacrifice in the form of an unlucky drow not watching his back. The drow's deity, the queen of chaos, would be pleased this day for the house had spent the last few weeks preparing spells and other devious means of destruction for this day. The day Triel'du would conquer and absorb Furain. Though as luck, or misfortune, would have it Furain had already known about the upcoming raid.
At the hieght of the gruesome sacrificial ceremony, a ceremony dedicated to their twisted deity for her blessing in the raid that would happen in the next few hours, an explosion shook the fortress.
"FURAIN SOLDIERS IN THE COMPOUND" shouted a drow soldier, turning around to fight the enemy he found his throat already slit. Turning back around he found the others behind him either with their throats slit, or the emblem on their shoulders showing that of house Furain. "I let my guard down and this is what happens to those who put their guard down" was the last thought that ever flitted across that drows mind as he fell into the cold clutches of death.
The house Furain had killed the rest of house Triel'du's nobles, even the children, and absorbed the remaining drow soldiers that had survived the onslaught. Well almost all, as Nyxx had already planned for this outcome and at this time he decided it was time for him to leave this city behind. His glowing-red eyes picking up the heat signatures of all that around him for in the city of the drow, so far away from the surface, there was no light. No night and day. Just perpetual darkness, fitting for the drow that resided there. "Perhaps I will return to this city of chaos one day" he to himself as he silently made his way through the myriad of tunnels that led to the surface, along with a map he had stolen from a drow mage that he had subsequently killed after being caught.
Perched atop a mountain in a cave, he viewed the sun for the first time in months. Letting his eye's adjust from the heat-sensitive eye's that the drow had blessed him with to the normal spectrum with a smile on his face.
"It's time for the world above to learn of chaos" He thought smugly to himself, believing himself above the others who had no idea of the true chaos of that city and the trials that he had come through.
