Monk class addition

Hello This is another yet another Idea I'm proposing.
As the title implies, I (as well as a few others) would like to see what others think of a new monk class being added to the server.
Please remember this is a discussion to iron out the kinks of the monk class. Any propositions I make are hypothetical and should be discussed.
Afterwards I will revise the class features to send to oreborn as well as other admins for their input (Oreborn/admins if you want to discuss this here, please do. I would greatly appreciate your input, negative or positive, anything you say or do will be used to improve this idea)

Spoiler: Monk class stats & abilitiesShow
Currently I along with William_Thatch and Holychao are discussing the creation of a monk order. This post is just a test to gauge the support of everyone on the server as well as ironing out the kinks in the class. Of course if it were to be added the admins and Oreborn will have the last say in what goes into the class if they decide to add it. Though I figure we as a server could possibly inspire a few cool ideas as well as help them with a base for such a class
I think this would be a cool class to add to

They can be about anything, it's a fictional rp server.
Monks training their mind and body to achieve perfect balance can fix their bodies by poping bones back into place, applying pressure to certain points on their body to alleviate pain, etc.
Oracle is a class, they commune with the gods and such, check the wiki :)

Oracles are CI's monks, by a different name. At first, they were the only class with unarmed disarm. I may as well start a thread asking for "assassin," "beast master," and "fighter."

(I'm challenging your logic, to see if it's a fullproof idea.)

I fell for the trend too.

(Challenge Accepted)

Oracles are quite different from monks in the fact that they are more spiritually attuned to the gods than anything else. Many would say that they are physically lacking, and that their most useful attributes are speaking directly to the gods as well as their many healing spells. Which is the main difference between the two classes, is that they use spells.

The differences between the oracle and monk are about the same between the oracle and paladin. While the Oracle has "the gift" and can speak with the gods, Monks, usually, focus more on their body and mind. I'm not saying Monks aren't spiritual and/or devout followers of their preferred god. Though the requirements to become a monk are just as set in stone as the other classes
Ex: Rogue - Thieves, Assassins, they are deftly quick and trained for dodging, escaping, parkour, etc.
Ex.2: Paladin - Devout follower, Swords of justice, They recieve their gods blessings while also trained in combat
Ex.3: Mage - Scholars, Patient, Will of iron, They have studied the arcane carefully and dutifully to achieve their status
Please note I am not trying to generalize anybodies characters, though when you read the class, this is what you tend to visualize. The monk, in my opinion would be a welcome class.
Ex.Monk: Martial artists, Seekers of truth, They train their bodies as well as their minds to achieve perfect inner balance

I do see where you are coming from with your other suggestions, assassin, fighter, etc.
Though I believe that this class is too unique to be dissuaded by that argument. So I hope this leaves you satisfyed on this topic :d

Based on the faith they ascribe to, monks can be very very different. But the unifying aspect is that they practice monasticism. Which is the withdrawal from their normal societies in order to live communally with other brothers or sisters of their respective orders. The general idea being they give up many luxuries, distractions, and aspects of "normal life" in order to devote themselves more to whatever studies their faith prescribes.

All of the following are monks. None of them are any more or less of a monk than the others.

The Rogues from Diablo 1 and 2 are technically monks as well.

How should I go about updating the class? Should I edit the original post and record the voting results (they will be reset)
Or should I just post the updated class in the comments?

Untagged users
Edit the OP so people can re-vote on the new one. Just make sure you announce that if you do.

I suggest starting a new thread, placing a link here to the new one, and locking this one.

No Monk.

From the RP perspective your idea is great.

From the mechanics angle its please no. Our combat system is already very broken. This would only add to the existing problem.
